I love running in Fredericksburg. They have a great half marathon (Blue & Grey) in December. Farc is a wonderful club. I used to do a few races down there, including an 8K on some hills by Lee Drive and the July 4th 5-miler which is a terrific course. I also did a downtown mile, but I don't think they have that anymore. Fredericksburg is a neat town, good report! Once you're done there, you can go tour the nearby Civil War battlefields of Chancellorsville (Lee's greatest victory, but he lost Stonewall Jackson), the Wilderness and Spotsylvania, places soaked in Union blood.

Bummer! I remember when they cancelled the old DC Marathon, in its second year, just before they went bankrupt. They blamed 9-11 security requirements.

Its disappointing to have the race cancelled but it was pretty bad out here.

Thanks for stopping by. Big Sur is one of the most beautiful places I have ever run. The half marathon is along Monterey Bay and the scenery is stunning! I ran the Big Sur 21 miler last April, and it is the same route as the marathon, it just starts at mile 5. Although I have driven that route many times, I appreciated it even more on foot.
